Pelé Goes Under Surgery to Remove Kidney Stones

Brazilian football legend, Pelé, 74, has undergone surgery for the removal of kidney stones at the Albert Einstein Hospital in southern São Paulo, on Thursday morning 

According to the medical report, Pelé had to have the stones removed from his kidneys, bladder and urethra.

He is doing well, but there are yet no estimates for discharge.

The King of Football felt ill on Wednesday (12) afternoon and had to cancel an appearance at the Pelé Museum in Santos, off the coast of the state of São Paulo, where he was set to make a speech.

Initially he thought it to be a stomachache due to pain on his abdomen. He was eventually taken to hospital for an evaluation.

Pelé was driven to hospital by his girlfriend Márcia and his daughter Flávia. He arrived at around 8pm and was admitted immediately.

Exams carried out in hospital identified the existence of kidney stones.

Despite Pelé's stable recovery he will remain in hospital, under recovery.
